The HYPOFAM Project investigates, based on large-scale data from administrative records in Austria, how a societal trend towards greater shares of hypogamous heterosexual couples - in which she is more educated or earns more than him - affects couples and their behaviors. We study the impact of couple constellations in terms of her and his socio-economic status on their fertility, gendered employment and income trajectories after the birth of a first child. HYPOFAM is funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). It is carried out by an interdisciplinary team in cooperation of the Department of Sociology of the University of Vienna, the JKU in Linz and the Institute for Advanced Studies (Team page for details).
